Wiring: Cable codes for clear wires?
I'm trying to install a pendant lighting fixture. The cables are clear (instead of black white and green) and the three wires inside are silver. I know the bare wire is the ground, but I don't know which is which of the other two. One simply has a clear cover and the other is clear with a white stripe. Which one is the hot (black) and which one is the neutral (white). I can't find this info anywhere! Help!!!!
The light will work either way as long as the ground is correct, but the correct way is as woodtick said connect the wire with the white stripe to the neutral or white wire. The other wire will connect to the black. This is the proper and safe way to install your light.
Please take the time to read the whole answer before you start pointing fingers. I was refering to the previous answer stating it doesn't matter on a 110v system it will work either way. It will work either way, but I posted how to do it the correct way.
